Henna & Mendhi
Henna/Mehndi is a traditional tattoo body art used to celebrate special occasions worldwide. Its origins are dated back over 5000 years. From traditional Mehndi (Hindu) designs to the new Western world designs, A-Star artists can freehand any design requested.
Simple Henna tattoos take 3-5 minutes to freehand and up to several hours to apply intricate (bridal) designs on the hands and feet. For large events and festivals, A-Star artists’ use our proprietary stencils before applying the henna paste for speed and efficiency. Our stencils speed up the application process for simple designs to 1-3 minutes.
Our Henna paste is 100% Natural, made fresh for dark staining, and takes 10-30 mins. to dry depending on size of design. A-Star’s Henna tattoos come with a choice of multiple colours of glitter to top off the designs and the stain will last up to 7 days – 2 weeks with care.
For best staining results, we spray the henna tattoo with a mixture of lemon juice and sugar so that it does not start crumbling off once dried.
Henna/Mehndi should be left on the skin for a minimum of 2-3 hours for any substantial stain to result. To achieve a dark deep colour stain the paste should be left on the skin for at least 6-8 hours. During this whole time the paste should be kept moist, and the skin area wrapped for warmth. Keeping the area warm helps the paste stain more effectively.
Please do NOT be alarmed at first when the paste flakes off the stain will appear orange. Thereafter, the colour continues to darken for up to 48 hours into a deep BROWN or BURGANDY shade.
If you love the colour of black, and love how long Henna/Mehndi lasts please ask for A-Star’s 100% Natural & Safe BLACK JAGUA tattoos. This natural product from the Amazon is a great healthy option for a long lasting black stain that naturally fades away after 2 weeks.

Are Henna Tattoos & Black Jagua Tattoos Safe?
Yes, we only use 100% Natural products. Our Henna powder comes from Morocco and the Black Jagua dye is extracted from a plant in the Amazon.
What Is Henna?
The Henna plant is a small shrub called Lawsonia Inermis, and is found in sub-tropical countries like India, Pakistan, Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa. The young bright green sun-dried leaves of these plants are ground into fine powder, then mixed with water and essential oils.
What Is The Difference Between Henna & Mehndi?
Mehndi is the Hindu term that covers all aspects of the art mixture and process. Henna is the Persian name for the plant that produces it. The West is more familiar with the term Henna. Many people know henna for dyeing the hair and the skin but it has many uses.
Henna is a temporary substance which when applied to the skin produces beautiful shades of red, burnt orange, rust, to deep shades of brown.
How Long Should You Leave The Paste On Your Skin?
In order for the Henna paste to stain properly it must be left on your skin for a minimum of 2-3 hours. For the best staining results leave the dried paste on the skin for 6-8 hours. If you keep spraying lemon juice and sugar on the paste to keep it moist and then wrap the area to keep the skin warm you will see the best results. After achieving the best results, you have a chance of the henna stain lasting up to 3 weeks (instead of 1-2 weeks) if you constantly moisturize the tattoo area.
FOR BLACK JAGUA THE PROCESS IS DIFFERENT! Please wash off the paste with warm water after 3-6 hours. DO NOT LEAVE THE PASTE ON AFTER 6 HOURS! It will look invisible at first, but the next day after 12 hours the black stain will appear and last up to 2-3 weeks with moisturizer.
What Are Your Aftercare Instructions For Henna Tattoos?
- Leave paste on as long as possible, while keeping it moist
- Constantly spray the paste with lemon juice & sugar water until it flakes off after 8 hours
- HEAT is a friend to Henna!!! If you warm your skin while paste is on, you will achieve a much darker stain
- After 8 hours DO NOT wash off with soap & water, instead gently rub or pick off the dried paste (it flakes off easily)
- Avoid direct sunlight while the paste is on your skin
- Avoid water contact for 24 hours after flaking off the paste
- When having showers/baths or swimming put vegetable oil or olive oil over your tattoo area to protect it from the water
What Are Your Aftercare Instructions For Black Jagua Tattoos?
- Wash off with warm running water after 3-6 hours
- DO NOT SLEEP WITH THE PASTE ON! It can transfer to over parts of your body while sleeping with sweat
- DO NOT plan aerobic activity while the paste is on your skin, sweat can cause the lines in your tattoo design to blur
- Avoid soaking in water, like hot tubs, baths, & swimming for 24-48 hours after flaking off the paste
- When sweating & having showers/baths or swimming put vegetable oil or olive oil over your tattoo area to protect it from the water
Can Someone Have An Allergic reaction to Henna & Black Jagua Tattoos?
Yes, like any all-natural plant or material, it can cause allergic reactions in some people. We recommend if you are not sure you might have an allergic reaction to spot test a small area first.
How Can I Take Off My Henna & Black Jagua Tattoos?
You can’t just “take it off.” The stain fades gradually as your skin exfoliates. The time varies according to each individual. If you do want it to fade more quickly, you can rub it with soap and water. However, there is no quick fix.
